Praise the Lord. I am Sam-Attu and I count it a great joy and privilege to bring you God’s word today which we have titled
Go in this Your Might- God is Calling You to Step into the Occasion
Judges 6:11-14
And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
This text is set on a background where the Israelites walked in disobedience to the word of God and the consequence of disobeying God was on them, the Midianites ruled over them while the Amalekites and other nations of the East plunder their resources. This is similar to what the world is facing and as individuals we have our personal experiences of troubles, problems and diseases at every corner many of which we may not be the direct cause but we are faced with this unpleasant situations.
When God wants to bless a person, He first calls the person into repentance and reconciliation to prepare and position the person for what He is about to do. It is possible the Lord is calling you to repentance at this moment. Let the Holy Spirit bring light to every dark heart in Jesus name. Amen
So it happened that while God sent His prophet to chastise and bring the Israelites to repentance, He was calling the man He has prepared for the season. God has already prepared Gideon before he was born, the name Gideon was prophetic, it means great warrior. I don’t know what your own name is and the secret grace and potentials God has placed in you? But I know there is something prophetic about you because God knew you before you were born (Jer 1:5) and has prepared a special assignment for you (Eph 2:10).
You see even the name MIdian is symbolic, it means a people of contention, strife and judgement. This was the people God allowed to overcome the Israelites which open the door to another set of people led by the Amalekites which means a people that wring, as in to squeeze tightly or obtain by force, they to plundered, inflicted fear and pain on the Israelites.
The Israelites brought this trouble on themselves due to disobedience and the disobedience of their fathers. But God has prepared a warrior. Brothers and sisters, I tell you before you find yourself in that situation God has prepared a way out for you.
Even over the pandemic in the world, we still boldly hold up the cross to proclaim that Jesus is the answer for the world today. My friend Jesus is your warrior; He is the answer you need. He has prepared you for this season. You are His mouthpiece, His hand and feet.
Unfortunately, the situation has overwhelmed many of God’s warrior and we have gone into hiding blaming God for abandoning us like Gideon. But there is an awakening cry for God’s warrior, God’s general. I have come by the prophetic hand of God to awaken you. Child of God, awake to your destiny, awake to the purpose of God for your life.
Are you finding the problems around you overwhelming? Are you complaining and whining like others over the situation?
As Gideaon was complaining the angel turned his back at him. When you complain, the Lord turns His back. When you give excuses the Lord shuts His ears. But after the complain and blame game came the call and order of the commander. The angel looked at Gideon directly into his eyes, face to face and gave him this charge, Go in this your might because I am sending you. You are the one God has prepared to deliver His people, God has put His might inside you and He is sending you.
God is calling what He deposited in you. God is calling forth his grace in you, God is calling forth your potential, gifts, talents, he is calling the anointing upon you to rise, to roar and cry for war but not your war for the bible says the battle is of the Lord. 2 Chronicles 20:15
Thus says the Lord to you, Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s.
Let me tell you that the battle is of the Lord and the victory is for you. When you take your stand make sure you are standing with God and for Him. Don’t project yourself to fight on your own, project the Lord and He will fight for you and you will win, for the battle is the Lord’s and the victory is for yours. Romans 8:37 says we are more than conqueror through Him who loves us. Alleluia!
God is calling you to step into the occasion, step into the waters; face the giants that confront your life, family and society. Attack the powers of Midian that contend against God’s blessings over your life, oppose the Amalekites spirits that is forcing things out of your hand, taking away the fruits and juice of your labour.
Confront them through the instrumentality of the word of faith and prayer, standing confidently in the might of God as you work diligently.
Gideon thought it was by his might and strategy that he will win. He gathered 3000 men of war but the Lord says no, you are missing it. The might I am talking about is not really yours but the Lord’s.
Ephesians 6:10 says be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Not your power, not your might but by the spirit of the Lord Zech 4:6.
Give space to the Lord to fight for you by taking responsibility, take your stand, hold your position, jump into the waters and call upon the name of the Lord. Release the anointing you carry, release the grace and potentials in you. That is what is needed in this season for the turnaround of your life for the better.
In the name of Jesus I charge you, Go in this your might, the might of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
God bless you.
Jesus has prepared me for a special task. I wake to my destiny. For the Lord is with me and his might with me. The battle is of the Lord and the victory is mine. I win in Christ. Amen.
